I think it's important to understand that KP's rehabilitation was unique from most rehabilitations that players go through. He was not sidelined for 20 months, because he was not medically ready to play during that time period. He underwent a timely process to try to deconstruct the playstyle tendencies that 'allowed' him to suffer the torn ACL (similar issues had Derrick Rose and we know what happened after his first knee injury):

It's especially noticeable, when you factor that a 7'3 footer was playing like this:

With reckless abandon the body will naturally took the toll.

You add in the fact that he has not played for almost two years, had to adapt a new play style to a new franchise/teammates and naturally things will take time. The positive is that admist the issues he's had, he's still a great catch up and shooter and his protection of the rim is as good as ever. On top of that, the Mavericks have the some of the best medical staff in the league and he has acess to the greatest 7 foot shooter that has played the game to teach him some moves.

Like KP has said before, it's all in his head. The potential is there.

This video in that article showcases one of the problems of KP in the post up. He is too anxious and wants to accelerate the play right away. One second after receiving the ball and he is already shooting or going forward.

He needs to relax and be confident in his size inside the perimeter. Take all the time you need to set up your shot, because you're a 7´3 footer, facing, most of the time, a mismatch.

Well, if anything, watching KP trying to operate in the mid-/ high-post makes you realize how f'ing great Dirk was in that area! His core strength was really underrated, as couldn't be bullied and pushed off his spots easily. Developing this took him some years, of course, so maybe KP ought to copy some of Holger's weird exercises.

Career rebound night for the Unicorn and his first double double since 2016!

Solid reason to celebrate!

It´s like he played center. Maybe that was the plan. Show him that he sucks at PF and the Mavs will even lose to the Knicks that way. Big Grin

I meant to say his first back to back double double games since 2016

They posted it during the game saying the last time he had a double double in back to back games was 2016 so I just relayed the message. Poorly at first it seems lol.

I think KP's emphasis on the boards the last few games has really helped him get more engaged organically which is helping on the offensive end. Grabbing a rebound is a "cheap touch" for him to not fall out of the flow of the game.

Keep doing this and slowly rolling out the stuff they're doing on offense for him, and I expect we'll all be very happy with how this turns out.

Seems like he is adjusting just fine, takes some time. Haven't given up on THjr either who never has played for a winning team before. Luka on the other hand, before last season had never played on a losing team before.

I haven't either, he is pretty hard to watch much of the time though so far. Never played for a winning team before is a good observation too.

RE: HOLY KRISTAPS: All Things Porzingis - ItsGoTime - 11-20-2019

If you think about it, if KP scored 2 more of the 2 pointers he's taking and 1 more of the 3's he'd be averaging 7 more points per game. I don't think it's out of the question that he will get to that point with the amount of shots he already gets. If he was scoring 26 ppg with Luka scoring 30 ppg, there's absolutely no reason we need another star/superstar on this team. Just need better starters.

I agree...we are a good shooting with above average defense plus KP returning too or surpassing his pre injury levels from being scary...TDL could be interesting if we are playoff contenders...

We need a #3...
