Only team sports (sports where there is contact between players) were banned. I am also quite certain some quiet arrangements to use a gym would be possible.

Wow I'm a bit jealous! I'm currently in a stay-at-home order quarantine and all parks, gyms, and courts are closed by me. I've been going a bit stir crazy not being able to shoot hoops haha.

Plus all of our grocery stores are limiting the capacity of people. Hope this is going to end soon!

It's over boys. The fate of our season rests in Dwight's hands. There's always next year!

Russ will vote to play.  Not sure of others.  Plus do players get full pay if they vote to cancel rest of season?

I'm so confused...

Why is Powell included? Seems like such a random player to include. lol

He's the elected player's rep to the NBPA from the Mav's.  Not that hard to understand.

Dougie:  Is the hate for Powell so deep that you have to dog him off the court also?

Not sure if Dougie is joking or not but the hate Powell has received most of the time as a Mav has been bad...he has done nothing but accept and excell in his role...not his fault the Mavs gave him that money...now he is the new Wes Matthews and needs to be dumped...

Rant over...moving on now...

RE: COVID-19: Shams: "Season decision can go into June." - IamDougieFresh - 05-13-2020

Dwight is a good person (at least as far as I can tell from never talking to the dude). I was just making a joke. I don't even hate Dwight on the court. He works hard and does his best.

Main reasons I clown on Dwight in no particular order:
1. A lot of people think he is good because his one skill on the court is visually appealing. We have seen it before that Rick can take any player who can jump high and pair him with a decent PG to get value in the PnR. The reality is that this is a cheese strategy that can help us in the regular season, but will never get us to the title.
2. Maxi is infinitely better.
3. I believe in 5 out offense. KP and Maxi should take all the 5 minutes.
4. Dwight jumps as high as he can to catch bounce passes.
5. Soft player.
6. Goofy
7. Front office subconsciously love him because it's all they got from the Rondo trade.
8. Takes up money that needs to be used on a wing player.
9. Can't defend.
10. Canadian.

I mean I understand the general concept. My confusion mostly stemmed from him even getting elected. I didn't know Dwight was popular around the league, let alone so popular that he was voted to decide the fate of the season.

Not knocking Dwight. He's a Stanford grad, and from his entire time with the Mavs he's always been extremely personable and a great locker room presence. So he's not dumb. I just didn't know he was popular around the league.

I have said this several times but will repeat my prediction. Dwight Powell someday be a high level Dallas Mavericks executive. It is clear to me that the Mavericks love him and also that he has the intelligence and skills to perform well in such a role. Rolando Blackman and Michael Finley are good examples of others who have already succeeded.

Its a start at least but it also seems like quite some distance to get from socially distanced workouts to actual basketball.

Quote:The Los Angeles Lakers join the Socially Distanced Workouts begin. to open their practice facilities for voluntary, socially distanced workouts, on Saturday as they allowed players inside the doors of the facility for the first time since late March when the NBA decided to close all of them amid the pandemic.

He's the Mavs player rep voted by Mavs players, not the rest of the league.

Utah Bogdonavic just had season ending surgery. Players might know the playoffs aren't happening?

I am only guessing. Some players might be against restarting the season. This kind of thing is a perfect excuse to not participate without making a big public deal about it.

RE: COVID-19: Shams: "hope emerging of games tipping off by mid-July." - ThunderMav - 05-20-2020

July?  And mid July.  Finish in what, Sep?

Playoffs or reg season then playoffs?

If just playoffs then all teams or just current seeds?

RE: COVID-19: Shams: "hope emerging of games tipping off by mid-July." - IamDougieFresh - 05-20-2020

Anyone else not want the season to start back up?

I know for myself I'm not going to consider whoever wins the title this year real champions.... Unless it's the Mavs and then I will have to do some mental gymnastics.
