It´s a dumb and dead concept. Mark Cuban would have sold it to Yahoo ten years ago. Big Grin

Someone is clueless about how bankruptcy works. THIS ^ (keeping the asset, while ignoring debt and increasing it) isn't it.

Nor would D be able to dictate terms - once they are under protection of bankruptcy court, they also lose all kinds of control.

A creditor reacquiring their own asset/debt as part of protection and liquidation is a well-worn route to solving some of the upside down.

Imagine being a western conference executive watching what happened to the Utah and Phoenix franchises and realizing that they’re about to be Luka’s next victim in the playoffs.

If Diamond really thinks that’s how assets and liabilities work, then being forced into bankruptcy really isn’t too surprising.

Notice the sequence of players. Camp dudes at the bottom, Theo and Dorsey right above them, Luka at the top.

I assume they're signaling that Luka, THJ, Reggie, DFS, and Shaqtin' are the starting five. OK. What I don't like is how low Dinwiddie is (he should be sixth, next to Shaqtin') and definitely not how low Wood is. Are they already preparing for his departure?

This line of thinking assumes an integration of basketball minds and marketing minds that I don't know can be assumed. In fact, I'd bet a fair amount of money that those people aren't vertically aligned, given my experience with the franchise on the in-arena entertainment side of things.

All they'd have to do to fix it is put Wood where Maxi is, and shift Maxi and Powell down.

This would actually make more sense (why they haven’t added another creator) but Kidd said Dinwiddie was starting.

If Wood isn’t clearly the second best player, this season is lost.  We know exactly what everyone else is, barring injury.

What if he is clearly the second best player, and either he walks in free agency (seems extremely likely to me if he isn't a complete bust) or we fail to get something of significant value for him in trade at the TDL? Does that mean the next two seasons are lost?

Wood seems to me a perfect storm of mid-term future disappointment for Mavs fans. I hope I'm wrong, but I think it would be a small miracle if I was. Recent history suggests that he will greatly help the team the first two thirds of the season, the Mavs will keep him for their playoff run because they believe the trade return will be insufficient (since they can't negotiate trades worth a damn), then they won't be willing to pay him market value next summer, and he will walk.

I find it very unlikely that they will sign him to a simple extension. If he's good enough that the Mavs want to do that, he'll want to bet on himself and seek more in free agency. JB all over again. Once again, it will be a small miracle if I'm wrong on any level.

Only reason I’d want Tim starting is if they’re building up his trade value. Otherwise, I’d rather build that chemistry between SD and Luka.

As far as Wood, I’m just hoping they figure out that he’ll fit very quickly and extend him. I think that’s best case scenario.

"Extend him" means they fooled his agent if he fits that well, tbh.

That’s why I said very quickly, like in training camp.

That's kind of a bold statement, isn't it?
