RE: MAVS NEWS: KYRIE RESIGNS 3/126| Mavs sign S.Curry 2yrs - KillerLeft - 06-30-2023 I found a different take, SH: https://twitter.com/yossigozlan/status/1674963884757876736?s=61&t=Zmns3TEXDYnIJIXeN05-eQ This dude says they have reduce further payroll just to use the full MLE. RE: MAVS NEWS: KYRIE RESIGNS 3/126| Mavs sign S.Curry 2yrs - SleepingHero - 06-30-2023 (06-30-2023, 09:33 PM)KillerLeft Wrote: I found a different take, SH: I currently have 14 players tentatively signed: Bullock Kyrie Luka Maxi MLE Green Hardy Holmes THJ Lively OMP Livley McGee Pinson The salary for these guys were taken from spotrac and added up. I added Holmes' full trade kicker of 15%. The total salary including the MLE+Pinson was: 170,971,123 Seth's deal would put them at 175,487,123 in total salary for 15 players. So yes, Mavs need to shed about 3.2 mil in salary to have access to the full MLE. Further putting more rumors together, Powell is almost a certain to be back. We have 15 guys under roster if we're including the MLE, Seth, and Pinson. Almost certain McGee needs to either be dumped or S/W. EDIT: I did the math and a McGee S/W just barely should get them below the 1st apron if everything is kept above. Access to better players through trade anyway. Access to better players through trade anyway. That too. Also can split the MLE and give Powell a portion of it and another to some wing+ a net neutral salary trade involving THJ+Bullock. But they definitely do need to shed 3.2 mil of salary right now in order for Seth's deal to be legal. A McGee S/W (Break in Case of Emergency type of thing) should just barely get them under it. Mak’s burner account detected RE: MAVS NEWS: KYRIE RESIGNS 3/126| Mavs sign S.Curry 2yrs - Mavs2021 - 06-30-2023 I don´t hate this signing either, if Curry is the THJ replacement, but I can smell the "same old, same old" turd coming already. The MBT promise us a different approach and in the end it´s this rotation Doncic/Curry Irving/Vet Min THJ/Green Kleber/Holmes Capela/Powell Then I´m out. The MLE and THJ + McGee + Bullock + 2027 are your tradeable assets to get another player. Seth's deal is legal right now, they just might have to use MLE if they can't shed salary. They are obviously not done yet though. RE: MAVS NEWS: KYRIE RESIGNS 3/126| Mavs sign S.Curry 2yrs - myconsumerclub - 07-01-2023 Yossi Gozlan: The Mavericks are now hard capped to the $172.3M first apron by signing Seth Curry with the $4.5M bi-annual. They are $16M below it with 12 players and $9M below the tax. They’ll need to reduce more payroll to gain access to the entire $12.4M mid-level. – via Twitter YossiGozlan RE: MAVS NEWS: KYRIE RESIGNS 3/126| Mavs sign S.Curry 2yrs - Jym - 07-01-2023 (07-01-2023, 12:31 AM)myconsumerclub Wrote: Yossi Gozlan: The Mavericks are now hard capped to the $172.3M first apron by signing Seth Curry with the $4.5M bi-annual. But for the roster to make any sense we need to get off of THJ's money anyway though. Hopefully can turn him into a larger forward or better quality center RE: MAVS NEWS: KYRIE RESIGNS 3/126| Mavs sign S.Curry 2yrs - soog - 07-01-2023 (07-01-2023, 12:46 AM)Jym Wrote: Sounds like it's an issue of $500k Has Curry’s deal been signed? Nothing official for about a week Yeah I don't know exactly how it works with ever changing rules but I guess both the MLE and BAE could take just slightly less to split that $500k difference and fit them both in without any other moves RE: MAVS NEWS: KYRIE RESIGNS 3/126| Mavs sign S.Curry 2yrs - SkenfromLMF - 07-01-2023 (07-01-2023, 12:46 AM)Jym Wrote: Sounds like it's an issue of $500k One other issue on the Hard Cap is that the Full MLE also hard caps teams at the first apron... so MLE or BAE doesn't really matter. Obviously nothing is official, should Dallas say, decide to S&T Wood, they could shift to use TPMLE on Curry and be allowed above the apron - not that I believe This is the Way but options are still available UNTIL the Curry contract goes up for approval to the league office and the Mavs declare which exception they are exercising. RE: MAVS NEWS: KYRIE RESIGNS 3/126| Mavs sign S.Curry 2yrs - F Gump - 07-01-2023 (07-01-2023, 12:31 AM)myconsumerclub Wrote: Yossi Gozlan: The Mavericks are now hard capped to the $172.3M first apron by signing Seth Curry with the $4.5M bi-annual. TOTAL 170,860,595 for 14 players which is well under the 172.34M hard cap. Roster slot 15 is left open for emergencies, to sign a buyout, or as a carrot to players working to earn NBA spot. These numbers do assume Holmes gets his full TK. That possible, and it is about $1.8M. But he might not in which case there is even more room to stay under Apron 1 (which they must). RE: MAVS NEWS: KYRIE RESIGNS 3/126| Mavs sign S.Curry 2yrs - Jym - 07-01-2023 (07-01-2023, 01:19 AM)F Gump Wrote: " They’ll need to reduce more payroll to gain access to the entire $12.4M mid-level " That makes more sense RE: MAVS NEWS: KYRIE RESIGNS 3/126| Mavs sign S.Curry 2yrs - F Gump - 07-01-2023 About Powell's salary, if we assume the full MLE gets used, and that the Mavs would need to keep a cushion below the hard cap, there's room to pay him about 1M more than the 2.019M minimum - except, if he is on a one-year minimum contract, the Mavs would pay him (and be cap-charged) 2.019M but he would actually be paid approx 3.197M (with the rest being paid by the league). It makes so much sense to do it that way that I have to trust they will do something else. Based on Mavs, Cuban, and Powell history. RE: MAVS NEWS: KYRIE RESIGNS 3/126| Mavs sign S.Curry 2yrs - SkenfromLMF - 07-01-2023 How does the portion the league pays apply to the Aprons/TAX? At one time did I understand the CAP figure to be one # and the TAX to be another? RE: MAVS NEWS: KYRIE RESIGNS 3/126| Mavs sign S.Curry 2yrs - audiosway - 07-01-2023 I'm so happy to see Seth back. I was seriously hoping they would resign him. I hated them trading him for Richardson. He is going to thrive with Luka and KY. I'm pretty happy overall with this draft and offseason so far. Now if they can get THJ flipped out for a starting Center I'll be happy. RE: MAVS NEWS: KYRIE RESIGNS 3/126| Mavs sign S.Curry 2yrs - F Gump - 07-01-2023 (07-01-2023, 01:54 AM)SkenfromLMF Wrote: How does the portion the league pays apply to the Aprons/TAX? " How does the portion the league pays apply to the Aprons/TAX? " What the league pays is ignored, for all of the cap, apron, and tax totals. RE: MAVS NEWS: KYRIE RESIGNS 3/126| Mavs sign S.Curry 2yrs - Branduil - 07-01-2023 The offseason has been solid so far, but they do still need a starting PF, and probably C unless they feel confident Holmes can fill that role. Right now the obvious inference is that they will attempt to fill one spot with some kind of trade of THJ/Bullock/Holmes/McGee and the other with the MLE. |
