The best player the Mavs receive usually doesn't get the extension or new contract.

Looks like Dorian might miss some time.

Crazy to see how injury bitten this team is. Luka also battling an injury he played through. Might be time to throw in the towel and try and get a top pick, which I was/am strongly against

Can we please start to sell off now. Good lord. We are tied with the Warriors for the 10th odds, while we are actually trying to win and now our best, 2nd best and 3rd best defender are going to miss 1-2 weeks together. We can get to that 7th or 8th seed, where we have a much higher chance to move into the top 4 than we have of dropping to 11th.

A middling team with a constant cycle of injuries, you say? "Clank, clank, I'm a tank."

That´s the thing. If you wait for everyone to be on board with it it will be too late. Need to make that call right now (or at least within the next two weeks). Not when the ship has sailed. Look at the the trajectory of the team. Are they more likely to close the gap and get into the playoff race (only two games behind the 6th seed). Or more likely to drop even further (only four games behind the 6th highest lottery odds with a guarantee to keep the pick).

This year? Bound to fail both options.

Not enough firepower for the 6th place.
To many tankers.

Sell Wood, SD, Bullock. Try to attach THJ or Bertans. Extended DNP rest/injury for DFS, Kleber and Luka. Add as much youth as possible and just let them play. To be honest I wouldn´t be suprised if that improves the team...

Top 5/6 lottery odds might be out of reach but looking at the new system the Mavs only need to finish 8th to have a 99.6% chance to keep their pick. With a solid shot to move up. 6% 1st. 26.2% Top 4.

And then be the team the NBA does there exemple against tanking.

You can’t do that without breaking your franchise. (Luka).

By the way, you won't keep a pick you just prolong the obligation.

It´s not like half of the league is doing it every single season. Or the Mavs are losing a lot of games anyway. Wait a minute. That´s exactly what is happening.

Yeah and look how great that works out.
All this teams are in the endless circle of rebuilt.
Breaking everything -hope - build on it - fail because you build on sand - give up and break again.

Like the Warriors that threw away one season because of injuries and went all the way back to the top within two years? Mavs would still have a solid core around Luka, DFS, Kleber and probably one or two guys they couldn´t sell.

Mavs shouldn´t draft because they cannot evaluate talent. Mavs shouldn´t rebuild because they risk breaking up a mediocre team that might not make the playoffs anyway.
If that is your case you the Mavs might as well be the team that is getting moved to Mexico City.

The Warriors stormed back on keeping what they had and getting healthy again.
They didn't sell of anyone. And their "price" for tanking doesn't play at all.
They are like the prime exemple to keep your guys and pay heavy tax.

Are the Mavs willing to pay the tax? They just spent an entire summer doing their best to reduce the payroll. Not going to happen.

Did tanking break the Warriors? No.  Extended their window and allowed them to add assets. Allowed them to develop some of their young guys. Of course not all of them made it but just one player like Poole can make a big difference.

Or go ahead and continue to blame the Knicks for Mavs front office failure. Might get you a job on Cuban´s media team.

I blame our FO for not extending Brunson.
That's what put us in this situation.
Signing McGee was the cherry on the top.

They Warriors didn't sell of their team.
You can’t use them to support doing that.

I don't care about trading THJ, Wood, Bullock, Bertans what ever, if it improves our situation.
It just won't if you just try to get rid of them.

So don´t sell and just let Wood walk next summer (will you blame the FO again?). And don´t use a lost season to  give any of the young guys minutes. They might develop into good rotation players (like Poole for the Warriors).

Some of you really deserve the current front office.  What´s the plan? Finish the season with a play-in or first round exit...Package all remaining picks in a big trade (that might come...or not) and hope that it doesn´t end like the KP situation?
If tanking leads to an endless rebuilding circle (it doesn´t, just depends on the teams ability to evaluate and develop talent) the only worse scenario is being a treadmill team with little assets.

Green is injured and Hardy is clearly not ready.
Not sure what your expectation is.

Look at any Champion the last 20 years.
It's always a Veteran team hitting big on a low draft pick, a one season tank with a injured superstar or a hit on a go-all-in-trade.
