RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? LaVine? Reddish? | TDL Feb 9 - omahen - 01-19-2023 (01-18-2023, 11:17 PM)DanSchwartzgan Wrote: I’d like to amend my answer a bit. I spent a little time digging into Reddish and could see him being a decent buy-low candidate. I still want something more from NY if the deal is for Reggie, but the something more doesn’t need to be as valuable as my previous post suggested. If the offer was Reddish/Sims for Reggie, I’d probably do it. I was thinking about a similar deal. I think Reddish and Sims is a little short in salary on NY side. So perhaps something that could be of interest for NY: NY: Powell, Bullock Dal: Fournier, Reddish, Sims NY sheds some 2023 salary and Dallas gets two younger guys. No picks involved. Dallas would still need to "dump" THJ in another deal. Alternative instead of Fournier could be Rose, which would help solve the playmaking issue and reduce payroll for next season. RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? LaVine? Reddish? | TDL Feb 9 - ItsGoTime - 01-19-2023 Thinking of the ESPN Charlotte trade, I have a revision: Cha gets: THJ/Bertans/McGee/Bullock/28 FRP Dal gets: Rozier/Hayward/PJ Wash/McDaniels Luka/Rozier/Hayward/DFS/Wood SD/Green/McDaniels/PJ Wash/Maxi? or Powell Sprinkle some more Hardy developmental minutes and that’s a much younger and deeper team. Edit: in the offseason Hayward/Dinwiddie/3 FRPs/3 FRP swaps for Lillard Lillard/Green/Luka/PJ Wash/Wood Rozier/Hardy/McDaniels/DFS/Maxi RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? We are speaking about 2023/24 salary and this is not the only moving part. Fournier would be going in only if THJ is going out, which I mentioned. It is not clear if there would be additional salary (and how much of it) in 2023/24 instead of THJ. Woods future is not clear. If you don't do this move, you still have to resign or replace Powell - how much would that cost. Edit: by 2023 I mean 2023/24 season. Salaries at the TDL are: Dallas out roughly 21 mil (Powell+Bullock), Dallas in (Fournier, Reddish, Sims) roughly 25 mil. Edit2: replacing Fournier with Rose basically perfectly balances salaries at TDL trade and you don't need to move THJ. But I like Fournier RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? Collins? Bojan? LaVine? Reddish? | TDL Feb 9 - DanSchwartzgan - 01-19-2023 I went back and read through Stein's stuff the last month or so. Only two real Mav mentions from him. The Reggie for Reddish deal and confirming through his sources that THJ is indeed available for LeVert and it is really up to Cleveland to decide if they want to do it or not. Since I'm about to tie the two together, he also has written that NY would be willing to trade Rose if the deal "did right" by the former Thibs favorite. It would be quite disruptive, but is there a world in which Reggie goes to NY and Tim goes to Cleveland. LeVert (CAA) ends up in NY and we get compensated with Reddish/Rose and at least one other contract from somebody. NY needs to send out about $2.5mm more in a Reggie/LeVert for Reddish/Rose deal. That is more than any of their smaller contracts for guys like Quickley, Grimes, McBride or Sims. Theoretically we could take two of those guys. NY could also send out someone making as much as Hartenstein and still save Dallas a dollar or two. Or, you could add Fournier and Bertans to the deal and make it large enough that the trade spread swallows the $2.5mm needs to send out. Edit: Since Reddish only makes $5.9mm, he qualifies for 175% treatment in a deal for Bullock. So, the simple way to do something like this is to break it into two deals. Reggie for Reddish and then THJ/LeVert/Rose as a three way. Both stand on their own. Since Dallas is sending out the largest salary and bringing back the smallest in the three way, you can add any smallish salary you want and/or picks from NY. Obviously, Dallas would want more than just Reddish/Rose if they are sending out two 'starters'. So, I presume there would be more to it than just the base deals. BTW, anyone else notice this offensive surge from Reggie corresponds to THJ being out? RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? LaVine? Maybe I'm missing something here to clarify if I'm wrong. But why would NY take back RB when they let him walk into FAgency? Are they looking for more 3 pt shooting? If so, I'd like to think they could do better than Bullock. RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? LaVine? Reddish? | TDL Feb 9 - MarkAguirreWrathofGod - 01-19-2023 The Knicks wanted Reggie to re-sign, he chose Dallas. He’s a Thibs favorite. They may value him more than other teams do. Reddish? | TDL Feb 9 - Omega_Supreme - 01-19-2023 Do you guys think we go after Collins as a backup plan for Wood. A move like that echoes the Brunson/Dinwiddie free agency backup plan. I would not be surprised if we see a deal with one of these bigger names. RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? LaVine? I think Wood is a better player and his max possible extension is about same money Collins is owed. I would only do that if there is absolutely no way Wood wants to sign the extension. And even than it would be imho a bad outlook for Mavs, again. RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? LaVine? Reddish? | TDL Feb 9 - KillerLeft - 01-19-2023 Bobby Marks idea from ESPN (sorry if this has been posted): Mavericks receive: Terry Rozier, Kelly Oubre Jr, Jalen McDaniels Charlotte receives: Tim Hardaway Jr, Davis Bertans, 2027 pick (top 10 protected) Would anyone be interested in this? I don't get it at all. Not a fan of Rozier or Oubre Jr, don't know enough about McDaniels (maybe that part is good, not sure) and it scares me to DEATH to start trading picks that far into the future. I'm so fascinated by this upcoming deadline from the Mavs' perspective. On the one hand you just know they feel like they have to do something. There's no way they're enjoying this season. Based on that and the team's history, I can easily envision them doing something like this just to shake things up, short term. On the other, there's no way they don't realize that not having draft capital to offer has kept them out of the bidding for some prizes over the past couple of years. Surely they understand on some level that trades like this one are the cause of that. I think it's possible we'll learn a lot about just how different this front office is from the last one soon. RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? LaVine? Reddish? | TDL Feb 9 - omahen - 01-19-2023 Trade idea from Bleacher: Dallas Mavericks Receive: Pascal Siakam, Robin Lopez, Josh Jackson Cleveland Cavaliers Receive: Tim Hardaway Jr., Juancho Hernangómez Toronto Raptors Receive: Kevin Love, Christian Wood, Josh Green, 2023 second-round pick (CLE), 2025 first-round pick (DAL), 2027 first-round pick (DAL) I don't think Cleveland even contemplaits moving Love, but I guess you could also make it work with LeVert. A price for Mavs is very steep, so I guess it could be realistic. Mavs would probably lose too much depth to contend this season, but a smart move or two in the summer could get them there. Mavs would have a huge hole on wings, so I would definitely prefer adding 2029 instead of Green. The big question - do you play Siakam as small ball five or continue using Powell as starting center? Luka, FN SD, Hardy Bullock, Jackson DFS, Maxi Siakam, Powell Or alternatively Luka, FN Bullock, SD DFS, Jackson Siakam, Maxi Powell, McGee, Lopez NBA Trade Ideas to Blow Up the 2023 Playoff Race | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats, and Rumors | Bleacher Report RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Reddish? | TDL Feb 9 - Tyler - 01-19-2023 Make it a package deal of Siakam and Anunoby, and I'd be willing to turn over pretty much the entire roster to get the picks and expirings necessary to make a deal. Luka/OG/Siakam could make some noise for a long time. Do it while keeping Green and Hardy, and Nico gets his own statue. RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? LaVine?
