I'd rather have Dodo than a pick in 12-14 range. Unless the Mavs then used that pick to get someone who replaces Dodo then it'd be a major step back this season.

Seems like it would be hard without moving Brunson, both value-wise and with the resulting roster fit. Luka/MCollum/Brunson would be a dynamite rotation, offensively, but doesn't really jive with the new defensive identity so much (maybe I'm wrong about that).

Before yesterday I would have said it'd have cost at least KP to get McCollum. Blazers essentially gave up Powell for a 2nd rounder and salary. Now, I have to think the Blazers just want to reduce payroll as much as possible. I'd be trying to get Nurkic and Nance Jr. as well

A similar cost cutting deal could be McCollum+Nurkic+Nance Jr. for THJ+Maxi+Green+M.Brown

Blazers save nearly 19 mil. I'm sure we'd need to add a first as well though, since they might view McCollum as a better piece than Norman Powell.

There was a rumor he was looking for 14-15mil annually. Over 4 years that's about 61 mil. I'd pay that for DFS.

If netting the 14th pick and sending it to ATL with filler nets you Collins then i’d still do it.

I think if you're trading for CJ he's 100% in the starting lineup. Just has to be. Despite his iffy defense, he's still one of the best scoring guards of the last 5 years. We haven't had that kind of dynamic scoring next to Luka ever.

He's basically a combination of Brunson and THJ. But also with THJ's defense.

And McCollum can sometimes play defense when it matters most!

If I read this 2 years ago I'd have closed my laptop and decided to go buy another KP jersey to cleanse myself from the blasphemy.

Now I'd personally drive KP to the airport. I've done a complete 180 on Gobert. Him next to Luka would be insane. His rumored attitude issues do scare me long term though

I actually think Portland would be more interested in Maxi than DFS. They've been looking for a stretch 4 for years now next to Lillard.

There were rumors of them eating Love's contract just to get Nance, but viewed Love as a positive. That's how badly they wanted a true 4.

This was peak CJ. I wonder with two years in the bag and a cople more injuries if he's still the same scorer (haven't catched a Blazers game in a while).

But in the switch against Rudy, with someone like Luka having the ball, he still has huge spacing gravity. If a smaller guy switches on to Gobert he is STILL a lob threat and requires another defender to sag from somewhere. There is a reason RG's offensive on/off is consistently positive. And in the last two seasons RG has been +12.0 and +5.2 in the playoffs. He had the abysmal showing in 18-19 playoffs, but that is old news. He figured out his part. RG is NOT the reason UTA has gotten bumped from the playoffs the last two years, far from it.

I mean if the Knicks paid the Mavs a 2nd rounder for Kemba into our TPE I don't think that's a bad plan.

Would rather have Kemba over Burke.

Kemba certainly raises a ceiling as a third PG. But he is under contract for next season too, so I doubt Mavs would be willing to accept that for a second rounder due to their likely tax situation

Take the 2nd rounder, combine it with another 2nd rounder to send THJ to Orlando for Gary Harris. Re-sign Gary Harris for 8M.

Now you got Kemba/Harris off the bench for less money than Burke/THJ. I think the choice is pretty easy.

Of course you better be pretty confident you don´t help the Knicks creating the necessary capspace to snatch Brunson or DFS.

It all depends on the tax situation. As @"DanSchwartzgan" mentioned. Ballmer just set the bar again. Some of us thought that the Clippers would try to get out of some salary because they aren´t contending without Kawhi and PG. Instead they are doing the opposite.
If Cuban wants to play with the big boys he has to put his money where his mouth is.

I actually disagree with this.  Gobert is probably the most impactful defender in the NBA.  He is also elite (top 5) rebounder and P&R player.  His on court impact is insane.  In my mind swapping KP for Gobert actually makes us a legit contender.  A Gobert/DFS/Bullock/Luka/Brunson starting lineup would be top 3 defensively and likely top 10 offensively.  I would be more than happy to send KP + first for Gobert.  Probably more if I had to.

I might even throw Green if our first had some protection.  I still don't think Utah would be interested.  I wonder if they have any interest in Maxi?  Maybe a KP+Maxi+Green package with some throw ins to make the salaries work.  They get a Gobert replacement plus a replacement for that replacement (that's 3 replacements in 7 words for those of you counting)  when he does not play....and they get some youth.   Still seems light.
