RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL has $10.866M TPE - Chicagojk - 11-15-2021 (11-14-2021, 06:54 PM)chaparral Wrote: Our top 9 man rotation is missing that player that can score double digits a night. If Bullock was supposed to be that guy he needs to get 4 more shots attempts a night. Something he has only done for a half a year at DET in 2018/19 (10 FGA). Marjanovic, Ntilikina and Bruke round out the top 12. I agree another scorer who we could count on would be a nice add. I think a front court player who can score is a big need. This team needs to have a backup plan for KP. Right now, besides a Boban getting spot minutes, they have no front court player who can score 20 points in an empty gym. Ideally this player would be one who complements KP when paired together but is capable of getting 15-20 points if needed. IE without giving our low valued asset in Green. I think Thomas Bryant is my favorite. He is an UFA after the year and Washington is pretty deep in the front court. He is still not back from an injury. He was not a great defender, I believe. But he is young and a guy who can score and rebound. He may be a little to rich though via trade if he plays well when he is back. Theis would also interest me. He has a good contract but runs for 3 more years. Sooner Houston will want to give their youngsters more developmental minutes. Typically guys like Theis do not bring much return in trades. So throwing a second or two at them may work. RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL has $10.866M TPE - ItsGoTime - 11-24-2021 Mavs need their Shawn Marion acquisition to set up their Was trade to set up their TC trade. Maybe start with the Was trade? That was their second best player for 3 great to solid dudes. SA has seen first hand how well both KP and JB can play. Pop is looking to retire leaving the Spurs in good hands. Maybe Murray isn't so out of reach? KP/JB/Green/2 seconds for Murray/Poeltl/White This isn't a huge move the needle trade, it just sets up subsequent transactions to not be so pigeon holed into a fit with KP. I think JB for White gives SA a slightly better player, I think KP is a better talent than Murray, albeit, not by far, and once KP is there, the need for Poeltl is lessened. So the difference in JB and KP plus Green and 2 seconds might be Poeltl since they don't really need him having KP there. I might be talked into FN instead of Green and the 2 seconds, but I want to keep FN. This puts that team on JB and KP's shoulders and is "JB's team" to run, which is what he (and I think KP) wants. Gives them bird's rights on JB to convince and keep him. It gives us 3 solid-to-great guys with which to build out our superstar and 4 others, championship group. Murray/FN White/THJ Luka/Bullock DFS/Maxi Poeltl/DP THJ and White could be interchangeable based on what I suspect to be promises made to THJ last offseason which gives both the first and second group 2 ball handlers on the court. Dependent on how the new guys mesh with the old guys, this group is overall a better TEAM than with the outgoing. RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL has $10.866M TPE - aguiar95 - 11-24-2021 I wonder if BOS would pay a protected 1st to get them out of tax. Juancho + Langford + '22 BOS 1st (top-20 protected) for Green (Dallas waives Moses brown). RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL has $10.866M TPE - Kammrath - 11-24-2021 (11-24-2021, 07:47 AM)ItsGoTime Wrote: KP/JB/Green/2 seconds for Murray/Poeltl/White Murray and Poeltl would be so good with Luka. Have long wanted those guys. RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL has $10.866M TPE - Chicagojk - 11-24-2021 Portland has stabilized recently. We will see if it has staying power. I don't see an avenue for Nurkic now unless they crater. I am also not sure if he is the ideal fit here. Can he finish games with KP? Anyway, Hollinger did an article on his top 25 free agents. Nurkic is at 18 on the list. For comparison Jalen was 10 and DFS was 20. On the other hand, it could be a guy who gets lost in the mid range where he is not elite but better than a minimum type of guy. Someone you get on a solid contract or low sign and trade who gets healthy and is a sneaky really good signing. 18. Jusuf Nurkic, C, Blazers: Jusuf Nurkic hasn’t been the same player since a gruesome 2019 leg injury. While he’s superficially put up some quality numbers in 2021-22, his eye test doesn’t quite back it up and, as with Covington above, the Blazers are often closing games with him on the bench. Nurkic’s salary of $12 million limits what Portland can offer in an extension to $14.4 million for 2022-23, but this may not matter. Given Portland’s annual battle against the tax line, the Blazers could decide to move on to a different option here for next season. As with Covington above, a trade this season could also help the Blazers skirt the luxury tax RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL has $10.866M TPE - omahen - 11-24-2021 Thad Young would be awesome for the role Mavs were trying to play WCS on offense. He blossoms facilitating in those 4 on 3 situations when he gets the ball around the three point line. The way he plays for SA he is probably not worth a FRP. I am all for saving assets but if Powell and a couple of second rounders are enough to make it happen, I would be all over it. Or even better - is it possible he gets bought out? RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL has $10.866M TPE - burekemde - 11-24-2021 Based on the overall performance so far, in my view, these are the best 5 players on this squad: Brunson Luka DFS Maxi KP I am split with DFS and THJ. THJ is better player, but DFS adds a lot that THJ does not. RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL has $10.866M TPE - KillerLeft - 11-24-2021 (11-24-2021, 08:35 AM)Kammrath Wrote: Murray I'm not familiar with his contractual situation, but I honestly believe SA would be better off with Brunson than they are with Murray. So, there might potentially be a deal there, imo, and possibly Brunson might be more valuable to a team like that, who has zero offensive identity, than we can imagine. RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL has $10.866M TPE - aguiar95 - 11-24-2021 (11-24-2021, 02:50 PM)burekemde Wrote: Based on the overall performance so far, in my view, these are the best 5 players on this squad: You are correct. Yet, there's a 6th man getting paid good starter money. 3 offseasons and we've added NOBODY to that list. It's beyond incompetence. RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL has $10.866M TPE - Mikelo - 11-24-2021 Murray is probably the best Spurs player and young enough to build ... I'm not a Spurs expert, but I would say Murray / Primo / Vassell / Keldon is their future core ... if they wanted a lot Brunson they would just make an offer in FA..they have enough space in fact ... I love Brunson, but Dejounte is more valuable, he is a very good defender and also bigger..I am not sure we will have how to catch him ... However White / Thad and especially (personal taste) Poelt, I think they would fit really well .. I have Poelt as Top 5 in rim protector and a good rebounder RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL has $10.866M TPE - KillerLeft - 11-24-2021 (11-24-2021, 03:43 PM)Mikelo Wrote: Murray is probably the best Spurs player and young enough to build ... I have Poelt as Top 5 in rim protector and a good rebounder I'm not even trying to convince anyone Brunson is better (though for my money he is), but here's something that I consider a fact: Without an offensive playmaker good enough to win games, you don't have diddly-squat in the NBA. No amount of defense, rebounding, whatever, will do anything for you. The spurs don't have this. Period. I like Murray too, but as we saw with the contrast between DSJ and Luka, you know almost immediately if a player is going to elevate your team in this, specific role that I'm talking about. Murray ain't it. He's a secondary guy. A VERY good secondary guy, but with how well coached that team is, if he was good enough to have his own team they would be winning some games. They're not even approaching .500, and they're not trying to tank, either. Brunson, despite his faults (there actually aren't many, at this point) looks like he might be a primary guy. It's just that he's on a team with Luka. I'm not saying it's BAD to have him playing behind or with Luka, especially if you're the Mavs, but I do think he's much more valuable in trade than people realize. HE is the player who can move the needle in a trade, should the Mavs choose to try, imo, and the Spurs would be among the 5-6 teams most likely to claw their way to the front of the line in my estimation. RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL has $10.866M TPE - haveitall - 11-24-2021 (11-24-2021, 02:50 PM)burekemde Wrote: Based on the overall performance so far, in my view, these are the best 5 players on this squad: DFS had a great game last night but that has not been the case in other games. Id say its been Doncic, KP, THJ, Brunson and then the rest of the roster. RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL has $10.866M TPE - Mikelo - 11-24-2021 Something that I would like to see at the beginning would be ... Luka / Frank / DFS / Maxi / KP .. 3 3D guys together with Luka / KP and Frank as 2 handler is decent .. From the bench, dynamite ... Jalen /Burke / THJ / RB/ Powell.. lots of shots and a good rim runner on Powell (especially against 2 units) .. Alternate Burke with Brown / Greem if you need more defense .. It won't be very popular, but it would be open to moving Jalen on the deadline, for the right price ... and if Dragic is cut and it is true that he wants to play in Dallas .. I understand that Brunson will want to manage his own team, next year ... he has the talent and with us he will only be a 6 man of luxury, who can start in certain confrontations ... so i fantasized about some exchanges .. I read that he has strong ties to the Knicks. so something like ... Brunson / WCS / 2Round for Robinson / Knox / Dallas 23 .. This trade gives us a young 5, who is a very good defender and makes us owners of all our picks..Ready to pack Powell / Bullock / Green (or whoever outside of Luka / KP / DFS) + 2 or 3 top and get that guy n3 ..Ingram / Siakam / FVV / Brogdon etc RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL has $10.866M TPE - Chicagojk - 11-24-2021 I won't be able to listen for a few days but Harlabob is on Bill Simmons latest podcast.
