I do think that final product of a team looks like they have a well gelling on defense chance at a championship. It’s for sure enough offense. I'm in! Let's send it to Nico. RE: ROSTER TALK: $10.87M TPE | "playoff rotation wing" priority for DAL - mvossman - 06-16-2022 I'm in the camp of holding off on sending out the future picks. I think that is a move that will make a lot more sense next offseason when we have access to all of them. If there was a perfect player to pull that trigger on then sure, but the only guy close to making sense for that is Grant, and I don't think he is impactful enough defensively to make that move. I feel like Wood is the big move of the offseason. The only other big move that might make sense is to send out some combination of Timmy, Bertans, Powell and Green to bring in a wing. Without adding an asset that would need to be an overpriced wing like Tobias or Hayward. I'm not sure either makes a ton of sense. Otherwise, the biggest move we have left is likely the tax MLE. We could go after someone like Jalen Smith as the primary backup 5 and Maxi becomes a 3&D wing. Or we could go directly after a wing like Porter. RE: ROSTER TALK: $10.87M TPE | "playoff rotation wing" priority for DAL - JamesConway912 - 06-16-2022 Wait do we not have the TPE anymore? I thought that was still available until late June? I agree that Tobias would not cost a first and Matisse should not cost more than one first. But I don't think either are the right move. As elite as Thybulle is on defense, he gives most of it away on offense. The net is a good role player giving you 25 minutes a game. I don't think thats worth stunting your access to future assets for years. If I am sending out future picks, I want a legit 2 way player. I am not dying on this Matisse hill. Just think he is worth a 1st by himself and would be the Mavs best defender by a long shot. I also like Nico's approach so far, which has been methodical and patient. RE: ROSTER TALK: $10.87M TPE | "playoff rotation wing" priority for DAL - ItsGoTime - 06-16-2022 We pass on Thybulle and we’re passing on his breakout offensive season! RE: ROSTER TALK: $10.87M TPE | "playoff rotation wing" priority for DAL - mvossman - 06-16-2022 I guess there is no chance that Timmy + Green + 2nd round could get Grant? Doesn't seem nearly enough, but then if somebody told me we could dump all our trash and #26 for Wood I would have similar reaction. RE: ROSTER TALK: $10.87M TPE | "playoff rotation wing" priority for DAL - Kammrath - 06-16-2022 (06-16-2022, 09:11 AM)mvossman Wrote: I guess there is no chance that Timmy + Green + 2nd round could get Grant? I personally think that is Grant's worth, but not sure how the league views him. That would be the most I would pay to get Grant, otherwise I am out on him. RE: ROSTER TALK: $10.87M TPE | "playoff rotation wing" priority for DAL - Branduil - 06-16-2022 I think it's fairly irrelevant since it seems like Detroit wants to trade him to get a mid-1st in this draft, which we obviously don't have. Said it a million times but it's just going to be so much easier to make a big trade after we stop paying for the KP trade. 2023 is all our picks and a huge pile of expirings, semi-expirings, and declining short-term contracts. My prediction is Golden State Warriors trade Draymond Green + future 1st for Jerami Grant this summer. Pistons get a leader to change their culture and provide plus defense and playmaking; Draymond also went to Michigan State. Warriors get younger, replace Draymond's contract with Grant's expiring. Grant can switch on defense and knock down 3's. Lose rim protecting but they have Wiseman coming back. Wiseman has played in 39 games in his two year NBA career and has knee problems. I don’t think GS will want to rely on him. If they win it all they’ll just run it back anyways. RE: ROSTER TALK: $10.87M TPE | "playoff rotation wing" priority for DAL - StrandedOnBeauboisHill - 06-16-2022 Feels like the general consensus is that we still need another wing or do we feel that Hardaway could be that wing upgrade over Frank and Josh Green minutes? Personally, I see Hardaway strictly as a backcourt player because of his size would be an issue for us defensively if we played him heavy minutes at the wing. I'm very much in the same camp as @"mvossman" in terms of not trading any future assets for another wing at this point. We just added a 30 minute a night guy to a western conference finals team, I'm ok with that being our big splashy move. Use the tax MLE and grab a late second or undrafted player and run at this point. I think that you may have enough with the tax MLE to make Gary Harris an offer and have him be the player that helps DFS and Bullock get some rest in the playoffs. He feels like a reclamation project waiting to happen. I also think there's still reason to believe that there's enough room for improvement for both Josh AND Frank that they still may compete with someone like Harris and show that they can make a better showing in next year's playoff than they did this year so maybe that extra wing is already around. I'm still fascinated with the future of Hardaway. Feels like the best scenario is to give him minutes early this season and see if he fits or if he has trade value. I also think that a healthy competition between Frank/Green/MLE wing for those 9th man minutes could play one of those players trade values up to pair with Hardaway in February. Anyways, it's Nico's world now and that excites me. RE: ROSTER TALK: $10.87M TPE | "playoff rotation wing" priority for DAL - Winter - 06-16-2022 (06-16-2022, 10:48 AM)StrandedOnBeauboisHill Wrote: Feels like the general consensus is that we still need another wing or do we feel that Hardaway could be that wing upgrade over Frank and Josh Green minutes? I feel like we need another wing unless we want to play Bullock and DFS 40 minutes per game in the playoffs again. However, I think there are lots of possibilities when you suddenly have at least 8 good players in a playoff rotation. So there are options depending on if and how we add another player going forward into free agency - and which players are left standing. RE: ROSTER TALK: $10.87M TPE | "playoff rotation wing" priority for DAL - SwisherPrice - 06-16-2022 Unless they can trade THJ (which I find unlikely given his stock is probably not too high coming off an injury + a fresh contract while not even playing well prior to getting hurt), he is definitely going to be a big player in the rotation. Him on the floor would have given DFS and Bullock more rest. You may not like him as a player but in terms of roster construction, he is one of the highest paid players on the team and they will continue to give him a big role. RE: ROSTER TALK: $10.87M TPE | "playoff rotation wing" priority for DAL - StrandedOnBeauboisHill - 06-16-2022 (06-16-2022, 11:05 AM)SwisherPrice Wrote: You may not like him as a player but in terms of roster construction, he is one of the highest paid players on the team and they will continue to give him a big role. I have no problem with him as a player, I think he's quite talented, I just have a hard time seeing how he fits and gets big minutes unless we see him playing a lot of minutes as a wing which we haven't seen too much to date. I don't think pay is going to factor into Kidd's rotation considering he's kind of the last signing of the previous regime. I know the situation is different but Bertans get the same sort of checks and was just a bit player in the playoffs. |
