RE: Mavs Trade Discussion | Stein: Mavs not actively bidding on Roco (TDL Feb 6) - Aussiebballer - 02-04-2020 Jackson is currently a terrible NBA player. Does nothing to help a team win. Can he improve enough to become a decent bench player? I doubt he has any positive trade value currently unfortunately. Could be used as salary filler or if another team thinks they can develop him. RE: Mavs Trade Discussion | Stein: Mavs not actively bidding on Roco (TDL Feb 6) - DanSchwartzgan - 02-04-2020 https://www.si.com/nba/mavericks/news/nba-trade-deadline-if-mavs-are-out-on-iguodala-and-covington-can-they-get-in-on-bulls-zach-lavine Dalton speculating on Lavine who makes $19.5 a year through the end of the 2022 season. He's a Duffy guy. He's never been on a winning team and he's never had a positive on-court number. This is the first season he's had a positive Real +/- (barely). It was among the league worst a couple of seasons ago. It is hard to know what you have with him until you see him in your uniform with your players. There certainly isn't 30% usage available on a team with Luka. Hardaway has looked better with decreased usage. It is arguable KP has looked worse, but it is hard to know how much rust and a changed role is playing into this. Lavine certainly doesn't help your D. But offensively you could always have two of KP, Luka and Zach on the court at the same time. We've seen some 5 out lineups since Powell has been down that have featured Curry as a starter. Imagine replacing Curry with Lavine to form a KP/DFS/THJ/Lavine/Luka starting lineup. Against certain teams you can change out DFS for Maxi. That is a lot of firepower. If I were proposing a deal, I'd include Curry and pick(s) along with Lee and I'd take back Felicio. That would get Chicago in the neighborhood of a max 0-6 year player this coming summer. The problem with this thinking is it seems almost certain Chicago could get more. Maybe fans overvalue PPG and think more highly of him than teams do. Maybe he isn't as valuable around the league (kind of a 26 ppg reclamation project). Even if Bulls can't get better offers, I would keep him if I am them. He is still the star of the team, sells jerseys and has some attractive dunks. To sell him for a bunch of role players and bad picks would be just bad management imho. Hes still a younger player with room to grow and a relatively high basketball IQ. If he can stay in the gym and bulk up more theres no reason he can't bring value off the bench. Look I get now that DP is hurt you gotta find someone else to blame, but JJ is not as bad as you claim he is. RE: Mavs Trade Discussion | Stein: Mavs not actively bidding on Roco (TDL Feb 6) - vfromlmf - 02-04-2020 I like Lavine in a JET-ish 30 MIN 6th man role RE: Mavs Trade Discussion | Stein: Mavs not actively bidding on Roco (TDL Feb 6) - Scott41theMavs - 02-04-2020 Day t-minus 3 and counting. Look I get now that DP is hurt you gotta find someone else to blame, but JJ is not as bad as you claim he is. Naw, man, he's been straight up abysmal on defense and outside shooting (the two most important skills for his position) for two months now. I don't know if Rick destroyed his confidence or what, but he's done - more or less useless. He's not that young, either. If the Mavs can fool some other team into thinking as you are right now and get some value for Justin, that's great. If we keep him, Bro will end up with his minutes, and Jackson will be off to China once the coronavirus stuff is done. RE: Mavs Trade Discussion | Stein: Mavs not actively bidding on Roco (TDL Feb 6) - ClutchDirk - 02-04-2020 What happened to DFWSportsguy and his spot on rumors from very credible sources?... Come on you are smarter than that. It's all relative. Compared to the pretty much everyone else on our roster yea hes not as good or specialized as far as role, and has ha a rough couple months. That does not mean hes a bad NBA player. Hes on the number one offense in the league with one of the deepest, if not the deepest 15man rosters in the nba. He has value for sure and there are plenty of teams thay could use a young skilled wing who has shown the ability to shoot at a high percentage from deep. i heard Coronavirus goes great with a hint of Lyme's disease btw RE: Mavs Trade Discussion | Stein: Mavs not actively bidding on Roco (TDL Feb 6) - StepBackJay - 02-04-2020 (02-04-2020, 10:51 AM)ClutchDirk Wrote: What happened to DFWSportsguy and his spot on rumors from very credible sources?... My hope is Mavs will attempt to package some combination of JJ, Wright, picks to look for a wing upgrade RE: Mavs Trade Discussion | Stein: Mavs not actively bidding on Roco (TDL Feb 6) - Tyler - 02-04-2020 Assuming the big 4-way with Houston, Minnesota, Atlanta, and Golden State falls apart, here's a Dallas hypothetical I keep coming back to: We know Houston is looking to trade Capela and wants a wing, a center, and future cap flexibility. Memphis wants to deal Iggy. And Dallas has shown interest in Capela in the past. What about this? http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=shxmq3e Houston gets their wing and center who both have no long-term money after this year, and if they do come back they'll be cheap. And note that the outgoing and incoming salaries match almost exactly, which is important with their current cap situation. Dallas gets Capela and a non-guaranteed Nene. And Memphis gets an expiring, a non-guaranteed McLemore, and the GS 2nd Rounder from Dallas. Normally I'd say that Houston would laugh at this, but I've been getting all sorts of desperation vibes out of of them lately where they may be set on moving Capela and it could be Morey's last big hoorah. So I wouldn't put it past them to do something purely for the near-term. Interested? Probably. But that's no fun. Although with Valanciunas on the roster I don't think it's a no-brainer. RE: Mavs Trade Discussion | Stein: Mavs not actively bidding on Roco (TDL Feb 6) - TXBamanut - 02-04-2020 1) not sure we can just turn around and trade WCS again this quick in a combined deal. 2) Don't see us just going for 2 centers and no wing help. I really think they are fine with WCS as the backup, but need that wing help. When DPowell gets back next year, we'll have an embarrassment of backup players...just need a clear starter there. Caveat: Personally, while I"m satisfied with KP at the 5, I'm not sure the Mavs are, but after getting WCS (along with #1), I don't think they'll go for 2 centers in trade without getting a wing. True, but it also works as 2 separate deals. RE: Mavs Trade Discussion | Stein: Mavs not actively bidding on Roco (TDL Feb 6) - StepBackJay - 02-04-2020 Capela to Dallas not going to happen RE: Mavs Trade Discussion | Stein: Mavs not actively bidding on Roco (TDL Feb 6) - omahen - 02-04-2020 (02-04-2020, 05:23 PM)StepBackJay Wrote: Capela to Dallas not going to happen Yeah, we should put a sticky somewhere: no contender will trade us their core starter(s) for a bunch of role players, no matter how many we want to include in the trade. They want an upgrade over their core starter. RE: Mavs Trade Discussion | Stein: Mavs not actively bidding on Roco (TDL Feb 6) - MavsFan41ife - 02-04-2020 Any trade with Orlando is most likely going to have to include a PG. Wright or Brunson would have to go as that is their biggest need. I would prefer to keep Brunson. Would like to see Luka with Gordon. Should be a good show. |
