You can use up a roster spot on that locker room/team chemistry veteran who will be DNP in most games. But the problem is that the Mavs are using 2 spots in that role for Markieff and Powell. (Powell did not even play against Memphis with a short-handed roster)

Seth Curry also hasn't been a regular rotation player either. Kleber is always hurt and will be injury-prone for the rest of his career. That's 3 roster spots used on veterans that could have been reserved for a better forward/center. Then you add in OMax, who is clearly not ready this season, and that's 5 valuable spots that they're not getting much out of right now.

I truly believe they signed Seth because they had a THJ deal lined up that apparently fell through in the last moment. Marc Stein was emphatic that both McGee and THJ were not going to be returning.

Seth makes a ton of sense if THJ wasn't here. We saw last night he can still play and shoot the ball efficiently.

THJ trade needs to be on the horizon.
