I have thought this whole time there's no way Portland gets outspent but you never know. I do think you have to overpay to get NP here. I still have seen nothing about the Mavs from him...I wouldn't trust that he has any idea of the "top priority" of the Mavs. RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL w/ $22.7M-$34.4M | FA Aug 2, 5 pm | trading KP top priority? - Kammrath - 07-13-2021 (07-13-2021, 10:06 AM)TXBamanut Wrote: I still have seen nothing about the Mavs from him...I wouldn't trust that he has any idea of the "top priority" of the Mavs. Right, I do NOT think he has any inside connection to DAL to know what the REAL priority is for the new front office. HOWEVER, I think he has other team insiders telling him that THEIR impression is that trading KP is the top priority. Is trading KP the top priority? Only DAL knows. But other teams seeing the activity of DAL get the idea that it is their main objective. That's how I am understanding this. Again, hard to say. I think Murray+Poeltl would be my desire unless I know I can get Holmes signed as center. Poeltl would be fine in the trade as well to be the backup to Holmes if we're getting rid of Powell and WCS. That gives us the new C lineup of Holmes/Poeltl/Boban. That's why I believe at least a first from SA is needed in the trade (23 first that is protected which we swap with NY for our 1st and 2 of their seconds cause SA's is a higher probability to be a better pick). Order of operation: We get Collins and Holmes to say yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get the trade figured out with Atl to let go of Collins Make this trade just before executing all the rest of the plan. I watched a few Bagley games early in the season and his defense was awful. But I need to believe what I saw in college as he was my second favorite prospect in that draft. I don't want to rip on your pre draft assessment, but this is what he was: A dynamic offensive talent that could not shoot or play defense. That is a tough fit in todays modern game. I felt like there were three guys clearly better than the rest (Luka, JJJ, Ayton) and then a huge gulf. Picking at 5 I had little hope to get one of them as Bagley was the only hope going ahead of any of them. There has been a lot of talk about the Suns, Hawks and Griz running better organizations than the Mavs, and there is definitely some truth to that, but they all had a chance to get Luka at a smaller asset cost than it took the Mavs, and yet it was Donnie who pulled the trigger. I still lean towards most of our issues from a FO perspective being at Cuban's feet, and we would probably have been a lot better off if he had let Donnie be a true GM. RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL w/ $22.7M-$34.4M | FA Aug 2, 5 pm | trading KP top priority? - VintagePejav2 - 07-13-2021 A hypothetical lineup of Luka-Dejounte-Dorian-John-Richaun could be top 5 defensively, but where is the secondary play-making coming from? Murray is essentially a wing that can’t shoot. This would probably create even more offensive pressure on Luka. Don’t get me wrong.. I like it. I like it a lot. Maybe there’s enough goodwill between Nico and the Spurs front office to make that KP deal happen, but I thought the primary takeaway from last season is that the Mavs top need was another ball-handler that could create his own shot? The truth to that is not about 1 decision. Sure, we got Luka right. Great, I'm glad we can swing for home runs and get a grand slam. Problem is those other teams are scoring every other inning (1-2 runs per), and we got the 1 grand slam. It's a blow out, but we got that Sportscenter moment! 2. If Donnie didn't have enough backbone to fight for making MC let him make the decisions or quit, what makes you think we would have probably been better off if MC gave him the ability? If he ever gets another high end FO job in the NBA, maybe we'll see something from him. I'm willing to bet either he doesn't get that job, or he doesn't do much with it. |
