Mavs are not going to get a traditional starting center next to KP. KP is the center and next to him needs to be a stretch 4 that plays good defense. Last season i don’t know how much you can say what rick would do because we ran out of bigs. All we really had was maxi and KP after powell went down. As strange as it seems, a player like Gobert offensively would be a great fit with KP. As fun as it was to watch KP slam it down on pick and rolls with Luka, I just don’t think that jives with KP staying healthy. Offensively KP would be Dirk. Gobert more like Chandler. Gobert/Luka pick and roll 20 times a game would be lethal. Gobert would be a beast on offensive boards. KP would be Dirk and use his size to score those mid range off the glass shots and 3’s(just like a stretch 4) All that said, it’s less about it being a perfect fit and more about bringing in the most talent for Luka and then figure it out from there RE: DAL OFFSEASON: Trade & FA | "Lots of things flying around right now." - Hypermav - 11-22-2020 (11-22-2020, 12:35 PM)omahen Wrote:Can Atlanta withdraw the offer? The reason(s) I like Gobert on this roster. 1. Defensive gravity. He could make us a top 10 defensive team even giving up Maxi for him. 2. He’s an excellent finisher in the paint which enhances Luka’s #1 skill, thus affecting the gravity of the offense from the inside out. 3. He allows KP to play his natural 4 position. On offense KP exists mostly on the perimeter. On defense KP can roam and be athletic with Gobert manning the paint. 4. He gives us flexibility and a back up plan if KP’s injury concerns continue to be a concern. KP can be moved for alternative talent if needed. 5. Gobert/Porzee is like Chandler/Nowitzki on steroids defensively. Offensively the reason we didn’t want to retain Chandler is bc we wanted to get Dirk another star to play with. We already have Luka, so this problem is solved. RE: DAL OFFSEASON: Trade & FA | "Lots of things flying around right now." - cjeter24 - 11-22-2020 So 4 for 72 into straight cap space for the Hawks? Something tells me that Kings match that. That's a really reasonable salary and this was all about the salary because of Fox extension incoming. But at that salary they'll stay out of the tax for the next few years in all likelihood until the Bagley extension. They do have Barnes and Buddy declining salaries... So maybe just maybe... All a ploy. RE: DAL OFFSEASON: Trade & FA | "Lots of things flying around right now." - Tyler - 11-22-2020 Random observation -- Dallas sure seems to be a fan of CAA clients lately. They already have Brunson and DFS. They just acquired Green and Iwundu. And they've also been linked to Haliburton, Covington, and Gallinari in the past few days. I doubt that means anything in terms of some master plan for the offseason, but it's something to keep an eye on for the future. Agent relationships do matter. RE: DAL OFFSEASON: Trade & FA | "Lots of things flying around right now." - Mavs2019 - 11-22-2020 I read somewhere that $18M/year is the maximum offer for Bogdanovic. I didn´t bother to check whether that´s correct or not, but it fits the offer sheet of 72/4. If the Kings match the offer, they cannot trade him anywhere without his consent for a year, but why should that bother them? The Bucks will be desperate. The Lakers gave KCP that highly suspicious extension. The allegedly interested Pacers still have Oladipo at the deadline. The Kings would be idiots not to match. If Bogdanovic is willing to sign with the Hawks to get away from the Kings, he´ll agree to a trade to 70% of teams in the league. You mean it´s finaly happening. ....and with the board system I tricked jesusshuttleworth82 to like Julius Randle. RE: DAL OFFSEASON: Trade & FA | "Lots of things flying around right now." - sefant - 11-22-2020 I checked the on/off stats and the advanced stats of Bogi. Comparing to the current hype he seems rather overrated. Guess the Bucks tampering dilemma and the free agent class played a role. Or are the Kings such a mess in recent years, that advanced stats are a bit misleading in his case. He looks closer to role player than 3rd piece of a contender. Kings were a point better defensively with him off the floor, and 2 points better offensively with him on the floor. RE: DAL OFFSEASON: Trade & FA | "Lots of things flying around right now." - ItsGoTime - 11-22-2020 I think Gobert would be fine with KP and this team. However, I think Turner (or WCJ) is THE right guy. Would love to land any one of the 3. I also don’t need to land any one of the 3 to be optimistic about our team going forward. Powell/Brunson/Lee (vet min, 1 year guaranteed) for Randle works. As a sweetener, Dallas could also drop the protections on the '23 pick we owe them. NY gets another young PG, Dallas truly clears the deck for '21 (Randle can be waived next year and only cost $4mm), and we free up that mystery extra roster spot to sign a backup center. RE: DAL OFFSEASON: Trade & FA | "Lots of things flying around right now." - JamesConway - 11-22-2020 So, what are we doing? No rumor with much traction out there right now. The MLE-market is pretty thin already. Saric seems like the best target available to me, Whiteside is a douche, Gasol old & might be headed to LA. This is getting pretty darn boring guys. https://twitter.com/thesteinline/status/1330576559976005633?s=21 RE: DAL OFFSEASON: Trade & FA | "Lots of things flying around right now." - cow - 11-22-2020 I like Myles Tuner but he never took the leap I expected and I don't suspect he will, Indy is a good organization that often gets the most out of their players. He is on a very reasonable deal. (11-22-2020, 01:11 PM)Tyler Wrote:(11-22-2020, 12:49 PM)Mavs2019 Wrote: You mean it´s finaly happening. Trades take some time to negotiate. Mavs have played it very cool so far. No need to rush the last move and un-do all the great work. If it´s there, it´s there. If not, there are still plenty of Cs available for 6M/year. Mahinmi was the only positive defender on the Wizards besides Bonga. He has suffered the same fate as Dieng on the Wolves. A shitty defensive team and the overpaid veteran C gets all the blame for the young guns lack to defensive knowledge or effort. Then you have Willy Hernangomez, Bismack Biyombo, WCS and many others. RE: DAL OFFSEASON: Trade & FA | "Lots of things flying around right now." - omahen - 11-22-2020 So far little action on RFA front. No max offers for Ingram, no offers for Saric, Hernangomez. The rest are minimum guys. RE: DAL OFFSEASON: Trade & FA | "Lots of things flying around right now." - cow - 11-22-2020 Regarding KP, Gobert, and Luka as your core and I'm don't think this is the case yet, but what if KP's latest injury has made the Mavericks rethink their long term plans? The players only leverage is the human relationship aspect and the one year QO. I guess the Knicks should throw the max at Ingram (if they still have it). The Suns will match any reasonable offer for Saric and that takes Presti out of the equation, who´d only sign Saric to make him a trade asset. Juan Hernangomez is a MLE player. Anything he gets will be matched, too. They won´t change teams, unless their teams want them to. That´s information we don´t have. Maybe if the Hawks get Bogdanovic, they´ll make Collins available. I don't mind setting myself up for a verbal scolding from the Mavs faithful. |
