RE: DAL OFFSEASON: Trade & FA (Nov 20) + Salary Chart | $109.1M cap - cjeter24 - 11-17-2020 (11-17-2020, 12:12 PM)Tyler Wrote: Hayward's option decision is due today, and everything I've read is that he's absolutely considering opting out to either sign somewhere else or force a S&T. After the Milwaukee action last night, we might want to keep an eye on Dallas for this one. I'm in on Hayward in a SNT... If they take Powell and Wright off our hands haha. that's the price of most deals that don't get me excited. Yes, once we get everyone here we can pay them whatever. Problem is getting additional players once you’ve already used your cap. Get rid of Wright for expiring, include one of Kleber or Curry in hypothetical Hayward trade, get rid of Powell next offseason and you can have over 15 mil of cap space. Imagine being so invested in who is in political office that you based business and life decisions on it. No commentary on anything political... But I think that's the wrong mentality to have about things. I say the same to friends on both sides ha. RE: DAL OFFSEASON: Trade & FA (Nov 20) + Salary Chart | $109.1M cap - Tyler - 11-17-2020 I wonder if Dallas would be willing to improve on that offer. https://twitter.com/Mitch_Lawrence/status/1328775306124079106 RE: DAL OFFSEASON: Trade & FA (Nov 20) + Salary Chart | $109.1M cap - omahen - 11-17-2020 (11-17-2020, 02:19 PM)Tyler Wrote: I wonder if Dallas would be willing to improve on that offer. I would rather have RoCo over Gordon for the same price. RoCo was too expensive though. We can’t afford to go all in just yet and that’s what trading any future firsts would do. Let the desperate teams get their guys and let’s add for short term without sacrificing future picks RE: DAL OFFSEASON: Trade & FA (Nov 20) + Salary Chart | $109.1M cap - cjeter24 - 11-17-2020 Lol nobody is giving more than 2 1sts for AG. I sincerely doubt that Blazers offered a future 1st for him. I could see Collins and their first this year maybe... And that's too much. And I'm an AG truther. His play is barely worth 1 first rounder. RE: DAL OFFSEASON: Trade & FA (Nov 20) + Salary Chart | $109.1M cap - Tyler - 11-17-2020 (11-17-2020, 02:21 PM)omahen Wrote: Improve? I think there is a very real scenario where a team may get a bargain on the trade market because the lack of competition of the contenders because they have nothing left to trade. It may not be this offseason but possibly next offseason. Boston, Philly, Brooklyn, Denver, GS are the only contenders that don't have all their picks exhausted... Unless you count Toronto or someone like Utah as a contender too. I would think the most likely scenario would be a guy coming on the market that's really good but isn't an upgrade over one of those guys on those teams. I think that's what happened with Schroeder. Maybe that's what happens with Lavine or Buddy. RE: DAL OFFSEASON: Trade & FA (Nov 20) + Salary Chart | $109.1M cap - Drew - 11-17-2020 Yeah the prices for these trades have been extremely over inflated, which is why I’m not surprised or upset they haven’t made some splash. I’m sorry I would have loved Jrue here but not for that. Wait. Let’s see what the draft is and what available In FA before making too many moves or getting upset. RE: DAL OFFSEASON: Trade & FA (Nov 20) + Salary Chart | $109.1M cap - ClutchDirk - 11-17-2020 https://twitter.com/TheSteinLine/status/1328780236025180161 RE: DAL OFFSEASON: Trade & FA (Nov 20) + Salary Chart | $109.1M cap - Tyler - 11-17-2020 A day old, but new to me. OKC maybe trading up to 18? 18. Mavericks: Aleksej Pokusevski, F, Olympiacos (Serbia) Height: 7' 0" | Weight: 200 | Age: 18 Don’t be surprised if a different team ends up making this pick—as I’ve previously reported, Dallas has made it very available and is seeking a veteran rotation upgrade. In the past couple of days, the Pokusevski chatter has revolved around the Mavericks and Nets, in addition to the Thunder, who have had serious interest for months but would need to trade up to land him. This is a spot in the draft where it would appear he can be had. The Mavs are more than comfortable drafting international talent, and if they don’t move this pick, they could grab him here. Pokusevski is likely a couple of years away from making serious contributions, and there are concerns about his frail body type, but the upside, with his height and impressive ball skills, makes him a worthy gamble. I’ve consistently heard he intends to be on a roster next season, rather than return overseas to develop, which should have some impact on his suitors. https://www.si.com/nba/2020/11/16/nba-mock-draft-latest-updates-rumors-daily-cover RE: DAL OFFSEASON: Trade & FA (Nov 20) + Salary Chart | $109.1M cap - Drew - 11-17-2020 Not mad at it. Heard OkC is high on him. If we can get something Useful and still get 25 it wouldn’t be a bad deal imo. RE: DAL OFFSEASON: Trade & FA (Nov 20) + Salary Chart | $109.1M cap - omahen - 11-17-2020 I am asking myself, with Luka being arguably top 5 player in the league and KP top 50, when is the time for the Mavs to become "desperate"? Meaning, when is the time for Mavs to put remaining assets on the table for that final push? Lakers, Clippers, Milwaukee, Houston (before this season) paid every pick possible to build their teams. I guess Philly and Nets are exploring the ways to do the same. All of those listed will soon be deeeeeeep in the tax (Philly already is). None of them was saving cap space. That being said, I don't expect Mavs to "free" all three picks and send them for a third guy. They are not there yet. But I expect them to improve, so they are ready for that last step next season. Using #18, perhaps a minor trade with Wright (like Snell for example) and meh MLE on a one year deal is standing pat for me. No deal is better than a bad deal doesn't work for me, because it is just an excuse. Good teams don't have problems getting the deals done. That's why they are good. I expect one serious upgrade. Either trade up in the draft if they believe in a guy or upgrade one or more of our role players to a starter. Preferably one that plays defense. That would be a message they really want to compete. Anything less, I seriously doubt in the competence of the FO, no matter what former glory they have. Times are changing. RE: DAL OFFSEASON: Trade & FA (Nov 20) + Salary Chart | $109.1M cap - fifteenth - 11-17-2020 no way Mavs take a center project (11-17-2020, 02:41 PM)omahen Wrote: Meaning, when is the time for Mavs to put remaining assets on the table for that final push? I'd say its more likely than not we aren't picking at 18. I've already stopped looking at mocks. I'm thinking we trade 18, Wright and Jackson for Oubre at this point. Hopefully we can send 31 and Powell for Green as an add on to the yet to be finalized Lakers trade. RE: DAL OFFSEASON: Trade & FA (Nov 20) + Salary Chart | $109.1M cap - Jason Terry - 11-17-2020 (11-17-2020, 02:35 PM)cjeter24 Wrote:This exactly. Both LA teams and Milwaukee all in. You’re looking at the Harden loser, Denver, GS, Boston and Miami(plus maybe Utah/Toronto) as the only competition with the Mavs for guys. There will be better opportunities RE: DAL OFFSEASON: Trade & FA (Nov 20) + Salary Chart | $109.1M cap - cjeter24 - 11-17-2020 So the one reason I'm intrigued by Oubre. I think there is a small chance that he really blossoms here with Luka and RC. He continues a more efficient shooter and in our system turns into a 20 ppg scorer. 20ppg and near 40% shooting... Sounds like a good trade asset at worse. He doesn't play defense. But he's not far off from being a legit 3rd scorer that could be had for likely pretty cheap. |
