RE: OFFSEASON: Mavs Trade & Free Agency (Oct 18?) + Salary Chart - DanSchwartzgan - 09-09-2020 Conversation with the beat writers for ATL, NYK and DET...the teams that have cap room this summer. Gives interesting perspective on the FA class and many of the names we discuss around here: https://theathletic.com/2042511/2020/09/08/knicks-hawks-pistons-nba-free-agency/ RE: OFFSEASON: Mavs Trade & Free Agency (Oct 18?) + Salary Chart - KillerLeft - 09-09-2020 (09-09-2020, 08:23 AM)DanSchwartzman Wrote: Conversation with the beat writers for ATL, NYK and DET...the teams that have cap room this summer. Is it worthwhile? They have a lot of in depth pieces and they have many excellent writers. For me it is especially interesting to read Hollinger articles, who was a vice president of Memphis Grizzlies a couple of years ago and has especially deep inside knowledge of how things are going on. I enjoy reading everything from their draft guru and cap guru. I am not that much into analytics, but who is, will find that pieces from analytics guru very interesting I am sure. Then you have specific beat writer for each individual team. All in all, it is a very quality media and I enjoy reading it. It´s easily do-able for the Magic and no worse financially than the Bucks doing it.(09-09-2020, 04:42 AM)Mavs2019 Wrote: Why would the Thunder agree to that? It makes a lot more sense to add two former top 5 picks like Fultz/Bamba and another top 10 pick this year. Ross/Aminu or Fournier will also have better trade-on value than the Milwaukee player package. The only way the Thunder would do the Bucks trade over the Magic trade, is that they made a promise to CP3 that he gets significant input in his trade destination. Even in that case DiVicenzo will be in the deal. Adding Paul doesn't make them contender, not even close. Speaking of trades, I just keep coming back to Chicago as a good trade partner for the Mavs, if the Mavs can figure out what exactly the Bulls want and what direction they are going. Players I am possibly interested in on CHI: Otto Porter Jr Tomas LaVine Thaddeus Young Markkanen Valentine I feel like any of those guys could potentially help fill a need on the Mavs. RE: OFFSEASON: Mavs Trade & Free Agency (Oct 18?) + Salary Chart - Mavs2019 - 09-09-2020 (09-09-2020, 10:10 AM)omahen Wrote:(09-09-2020, 10:07 AM)Mavs2019 Wrote: It makes a lot more sense to add two former top 5 picks like Fultz/Bamba and another top 10 pick this year. Ross/Aminu or Fournier will also have better trade-on value than the Milwaukee player package. Are you sure? CP3 Fournier Gordon Isaac Vucevic What team in the East has a significantly better starting 5? They´d go from DJ Augustin to CP3. PG is their main weakness. CP3 could connect all the dots for them. Furthermore the Magic haven´t won a play-off series since 2009. That´s usually a pretty good trade driver. ________ I wouldn´t be shocked, if we the Mavs tried to trade for CP3. Brunson, #18, #31, Kleber/Curry (high re-trade value) + Wright/Powell (need to eat some sh*t, too). Under such a scenario, Mavs come out with CP3 41 Porzingis 31 Doncic 10 DFS 4 Get two more $10M (Saric/Dunn?) before you have to fill out the rest with minimum guys. The most interesting part is that CP3 expires in 2022, so theoretically you could have Porzingis + Doncic caphold + DFS caphold and again $50M in capspace. Question is do the Mavs want to put everything into FA 2021 or maybe try to create a more serious two year window. These are some very tough decisions ahead. Though Paul and Cuban would definitely be best friends. Nobody complains about refs more than CP3 and MC62. RE: OFFSEASON: Mavs Trade & Free Agency (Oct 18?) + Salary Chart - omahen - 09-09-2020 (09-09-2020, 10:59 AM)Mavs2019 Wrote: Are you sure? Yes. First we established the remaining salaries are not enough to even facilitate Paul trade. So you have to include someone like Fournier or Gordon. Isaac is lost for next season so you are autmatically wasting one season of CP3 bloated contract. Isaac and Gordon can't really exist together in any case. RE: OFFSEASON: Mavs Trade & Free Agency (Oct 18?) + Salary Chart - MaxiThreeba - 09-09-2020 Some shrewd team is going to nab a couple of future Milwaukee 1st rounders. If/When Giannis bolts that team is going to be in trouble and picks in 2022 and beyond have a chance to be gold. The Bucks can't exactly be forward thinking right now either with regard to those picks. They have to do everything they can to improve their team this offseason in their efforts to keep Giannis. OKC could definitely add to their treasure trove and those Clips and Rockets picks could be gold as well with potential player movement/decline. I´d be happy enough to get OPJ, while dumping Wright or Powell in the process.
