I am just glad that Dirk won that title. As I said many times since, no matter how much I gripe, I look at all this as a bonus. The basketball gods answered my prayers with that title run.

But Cato gives him a nice compromise solution in podcasts - reduce his role a bit, he is actually a welcome change for the organisation. But since change is so obviously needed (according to the article), Cuban can either prove article is right and double down on MBT or show he is not the one to point a finger at but the one trying to make changes with the only real thing he can do - "promote" Donnie. So if Cuban cares about his image, what will he do?
Not quite sure I understand the nuances of what you are suggesting, but the question of the day is certainly, what will Cuban do?

Strange as it may sound, I suspect that Cuban just doesn't really know what to do. Maybe he'll get some advice. I wouldn't know how to predict this one.

What stands MBT for?

1. Attempt to save face
2. Avoid falling on swords

Pretty much the opposite of what I would advise if he asked.

How about the humility he showed when the disfunction of the business office was found out?

Would love to hear: "honestly, I really wanted to be a basketball guy. I've been trying since I felt like Nellie then Donnie got me up to speed to run this thing. I thought I could do it. But the last decade has shown that I can't. I resolve to let the experts do their thing. I'll empower the guy I put in charge, and step back and watch the show. If we need a change at the very top, I'll step in and make that change and then back off again."

LOL, I agree with the concepts.

Not sure where they lead in this case, though. So far, his public-facing comments have been to express his regard for what Bob brings to the table, and to deny that Bob has any influence in the organization beyond "any other data point."

Mmm, yes, that would be delightful.

Any bets on the odds of hearing that?

Man, I've been wrong so many times in my 7 squared years on the planet. It always feels so good to come clean. Humility feels so good. It's vastly underrated. I'd suggest the entire human race try it.

Ha, I always love a good conspiracy even if it may not be true.  So this March19_2005Plsquit reddit user was the one who created and posted the Donnie Nelson master class spoof video last week.   March 19 2005 is when Nellie quit the Mavs, I believe.   So is that Donnie's date of his time in charge?  In a post he says he is friends with Harlabob...but maybe that is a lie.

Anyway, it would be a great finale to this saga if that is really Harlabob posting a diss track spoof on Donnie Nelson on Reddit a week ago.   Muah....chef kiss.

I haven't read this whole thread, but I'm going to point this out.

So, did the we won't post KP up thing come from Carlisle or this guy?  I mean, the entire reason that Carlisle said they didn't want to post KP up was that "the analytics say that post ups are not a good shot in the NBA any more"... Who's the analytics guy?

Now I'm wondering who thought, after us going up 2-0, thought the only way to win the series was to put Porzingis in the corner and have him be a decoy.  Was that Carlisle or was it this guy?

Let's consider this....why did we have COURTNEY FREAKIN LEE get torched by Bradley Beal at the start of the season a year and a half ago?  Didn't Carlisle say that the analytics say that Courtney -- not currently in the rotation -- Lee is the best defender against Bradley Beal.

I mean, if you play this out like the article says, this could effect sooooooo much stuff...or it could just be a bunch of nothing.

What I learned was Duffy is responsible for trading Seth for JRich.  Maybe Luka can discuss with his agent how nice it would be to have his knock down shooter back.  Hindsight being 20/20 and all.

Or a player who is worthy to be a starter and actually make an impact...

I’ll broaden the point you touch on here.  I’m now questioning everything I’ve seen the last year plus.  Were coaching decisions I liked or disliked made by Carlisle?  Made by Carlisle under duress?  Did he do things or not do things as a protest.  Did he put people in position to fail as a passive aggressive shot at Bob?  The quote from Hollinger I posted awhile back that he wouldn’t be surprised if Carlisle left makes sense now.

What opportunities were missed because we don’t have a singular decision maker?  Could something more productive have happened at the TDL if not for some philosophical division within the ranks?  I need to get a new hobby if the people I entrust my fandom to can’t get their act together any better than this.

At the base level this is a story of a new guy who rubs people the wrong way, threatens the hierarchy and has more of the bosses ear than he should.  Tale as old as time.  We’ve had all sorts of stats guys around the franchise for years.  So, it isn’t that.  It really sounds like quite a few people feel strongly that their boss is making a huge mistake and were willing to share it with whoever would listen.  As the stakes got higher (the coming off-season) the chorus probably got so loud that it couldn’t be ignored any more.

I asked this about the Rookies earlier in the season and pretty much got told to shut up.

I asked if Rick was not playing them in garbage time as a jab at the Front Office...maybe he wanted different players in the draft.

Yes...I get it...they arent ready yet.   But no garbage time?

Anyway.   Who cares?   Lets get players around Luka this off-season.

15th - Thanks a lot for explanation for what the letters stand for. Could I ask what this MBT is, in Mavericks team and organisation, and why is there such a term? I see it often written here on forum, but have no clue what it is.

It is a term that describes a circle of Cuban, Carlisle and Donnie who are supposed to work closely together and are (were?) behind all important decisions.

So as I read the first KP idea in this thread (was slightly busy yesterday so really hard to keep up with the pace of this thread and try to contribute), my mind went to…this is all a rouge to get pressure off of KP in the media. What better way to do that than a FO scandal?  Angel
